The CMI2’s foundation is rooted the development of partnerships with other groups and organizations on campus that serve faculty, researchers and external audiences.
The CMI2 has ongoing partnerships with the University Library to facilitate dissemination of learning resources. Collaborative initiatives include the integration of Library services and resources within the Classes*v2 environment, and the co-development of teaching and learning environments such as the Visual Resource Collection.
The Yale Office of Public Affairs (OPA) serves as the official voice of the University to the public, and oversees a number of central communication venues. Among these, the CMI2 partners closely with OPA on the University’s Netcast initiative and the development of special video projects.
The Office of Digital Dissemination is at the center of Yale’s effort to extend its educational mission to people around the globe by selectively using new digital tools to disseminate its intellectual treasury. The CMI2 has partnered with ODD on a number of initiatives, including Yale’s iTunes U and YouTube deployments.
The Office of Digital Assets and Infrastructure (ODAI) will guide collaboration among the schools, libraries, museums and other campus units that are developing strategies and systems for digitization and digital asset management. They will also coordinate the development of a University-wide digital information management strategy.
The Office of the Registrar for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences maintains data and provides services for students, deans and administration in areas including registration, enrollment and course information. The CMI2 works closely with the Registrar to integrate course offering and enrollment data with Classes*v2, and to share published syllabi via the Online Course Information system.
ResearchChannel was founded by a consortium of leading research and academic institutions to share the valuable work of their researchers with the public. ResearchChannel is now available to nearly 38 million satellite and cable television subscribers and our Web site is visited by 2 million visitors each year. The channel is also available on more than 80 university-and school-based cable systems in the United States and in other countries.
The New Media Consortium (NMC) is an international non-profit consortium of nearly 300 learning-focused organizations dedicated to the exploration and use of new media and new technologies. In Fall 2005, the CMI2 hosted an NMC conference on Yale's campus, which attracted hundreds of participants from across campus and the nation. The CMI2 also regularly presents its projects at NMC conferences, and its work on the Yale Galapagos Project was included in the 2007 NMC Conference Proceedings.
